This used to be an info box describing why I feel uncomfortable with shows of gratitude from others, but parts of what I wrote here don't seem right when I look back at it. Particularly the part where I wish other people all the happiness in the world, despite making it known that I can't accept gifts from other people due to feelings of inadequacy. If choosing not to let folks treat me to stuff means I've been denying other people happiness by refusing to accept their goodwill, then that legitimately does make me a hypocrite (which I can't defend myself for).

I also used to have no idea how to utilize this info box. Several years later, having traveled to various places hundreds of miles away (along with the solo adventures I have in mind and look forward to), I think I know what to say here:

I feel the absolute happiest whenever I travel solo with a concrete itinerary in mind, even when I have to change up my plans for one reason or another. Adapting, improvising, and making the most of everything are all part of the fun.
