This is an aptly named game because by all accounts this game is "fine". Its nothing special but not bad. Its a serviceable metroidvania that does exactly what you want it to. You have the standard levels and basic combat with a plethora of enemies and powerups to keep the game engaging. The themes of the game could have used a little bit more depth considering the heavy topics they were going over. Yes this is a game based on a comic strip turned meme but if you're going to take the time to make a full fledged game out of it, one would expect something more. But that aside there were several parts of the game that were not "fine". The final boss for starters. The lack of ability to escape or be ejected by the final boss if you go in there unprepared needs to be examined. While it is not a hard final boss by any means, its not great not having any means of refilling your coffee or even leaving if you do not feel up for the fight. The game is also filled with bugs i noticed. The animation for tail copter sometimes wouldn't work. The achievements seem to be messed up as well.
All in all this was a fine game. A fine metroidvania and a solid experience for fans of the genre.

TL;DR 4/10 game that (somehow) suffers from very bad performance issues and mostly bland gameplay. Wait until game goes on sale at $5 for it to be worth your money.

I backed the game on Kickstarter as I used to read Gunshow comics back in the day and wanted to support KC Green. Had 0 expectations but just wanted to see what the game would look like in the end. The game only took just over a year from the original Kickstarter campaign to be released which as it turns out isn't really a good sign.


Gameplay: 4/10
99% of your time is going to be spent mindlessly wandering overly large and somewhat empty areas while endlessly spamming the attack button. This never changes throughout the entirety of the game. The enemy variety is nice but almost all of them only take a few hits and never have any special ways of being defeated; just get close and spam attack until they die, rinse and repeat ad infinitum. There is a hidden powerup all the way at the end of the game that makes your (one and only) attack 50% more powerful, otherwise though you never get any stronger, but then again neither do any of the enemies.

Performance: 1/10
Entirely baffling how this occurs with an extremely simple 2D platformer but this game suffers from a memory leak of some sort. It will run at 60fps for roughly 5 minutes at best (with some frame pacing issues anyways keeping it from ever being a nice and smooth 60fps), but the longer you play the worse the performance starts getting until after only 15-20 minutes it will start dropping down to below 30fps. Frames will be outright skipped, inputs will be completely missed or delayed by a few seconds and most SFX will start frequently cutting out. Any other programs open on the PC will barely run at all either. Confirmed occurring on both my beefy Desktop PC and Steam Deck. And this cannot be fixed by simply restarting the game; it requires completely restarting your device. How this made it to release is a mystery and a completely unacceptable one at that, nor do I see anyone else mentioning it occurring for them either.

Controls: 9/10
No complaints here. Everything controls as you'd expect, doing damage and getting hit has a nice punch to it, especially with rumble turned on.

Graphics: 6/10
The art style is perfectly fine, however almost all of the elements here look like they either don't quite fit Gunshow's style or were from an entirely different game before having a marketable/well-known meme character thrown in to help the game sell better. At least all of the animations are nice to look at though.

Story: 2/10
Not that you'd be playing a game like this for the story anyways, but regardless there really isn't one to speak of. There's dialogue that explains what's going on but that is the complete extent of it.

Music: 5/10
Title screen music is good, Humiliation level is fine but catchy, the rest of the soundtrack is just kinda nothing though. Not bad or offensive but nothing you’ll ever remember.

Bugs encountered:
-Particles from enemies and objects constantly getting stuck inside geometry and vibrating rapidly.
-Once, became locked into falling animation while grounded, becoming completely softlocked and had to restart game (thankfully I had just saved beforehand).
-A few of the "all perks" achievements and the 100% achievement did not unlock for me which obviously sucks.
-Memory leak as mentioned above.


Overall this feels like a very rushed, somewhat unfinished and very boring game to play. If the game had taken another few months to be polished then that might've helped a bunch since I don't think anyone who backed the Kickstarter was actually in that much of a rush to play the game in the first place. It's a shame KC Green has to have his name attached to this when it could've potentially been a lot better. You could do a lot worse than this game but you could also do so so much better (remember that this game is the same price as something like Mina the Hollower. Take that for what you will). Do not buy if ever more expensive than $5 on sale.

The ending is so abrupt that the credits don't even have any music or a special screen of some sort. Had to knock a point off my overall score because of how even though I wasn't expecting anything good at that point, it still managed to disappoint me even further.
