Not a fan of this spinoff for several reasons. Ill say im a bit bias because im a completionist but this games trophies and completion lists make Yakuza 5 completion look fun and fast in comparison. Sure you dont have to do as much random ♥♥♥♥ as in Yakuza 5 but instead you need to do monotonous tasks for hundreds of times(cook food 200 times, clear dungeons 100 times, fish 100 times), its just not fun... This game is a like a dragon game or a MMORPG?

Speaking of that, dungeons are a integral part of this game as a way to get better gear with materials. There are around 40 and theyre all boring and a slog. The latter ones are stupidly hard for no reason too.
I hate how grindy everything is in this game such as swords costing 100+ ryo(some cost 400!) and dungeons rewarding you 20 ryo(at the very end!). Seals are also incredibly RNG and seeded just to piss us off more. Its overall a terrible system that i personally wouldnt engage in if you want to get any enjoyment out of this game. Seriously dont.

The minigames in this game are actually alright even if almost all of them are reused, the dancing one being the highlight. Gambling completion is pretty chill in this game but its probably because everything else is so grindy...

Story wise Isshin tries to mesh the story of 2 famous Japanese man into one and have the RGG characters play it, which even if they only use their likeness act exactly like the character sometimes. This can be a immersion break but having previous knowledge of who the character is and how he acts can kinda give you a first impression on how that character will act, thats something i apreciate. The story combines real events with a whimsical take on the post Nobunaga japan era, but its very much a yakuza game reskinned to this era. Even the city reflects this.

I dont really like the combat of Isshin, we have 4 styles but theyre essentially just "different weapon".
Brawler is really really weak and doesnt get used unless the game forces it no you. Gunman is incredible strong albeit boring af. Swordsman is decent and has the coolest moves(shoutout sword tiger drop) but has terrible evasion. Wild Dancer is definetly the highlight of combat in this game, so much sinergy between buttons heat actions and they all look cool!

Completion killed my enjoyment of this game. If you intend to give Isshin a try(i wouldnt) DONT do completion. Heck dont even try to play on LEGEND, just enjoy the game on NORMAL/EASY and its story. Dont think its the worst game ever but its bad.
