To answer your question from Doom Eternal's thread: ammo shortage is still a thing after coming back from playing Doom 2016 but the key difference is that, for example, a Hellknight and a Whiplash always take 3 rockets to die. A mini baron of hell always takes three rockets to stun. Imps and zombies always take about 5 to 7 Assault Rifle shots to stun, a Blood Punch can instakill a Pinky. You can Blood Punch a Mancubus' armor off after your freeze them.

You know how much you need of every type of ammo to kill enemies which creates an optimal way to kill each enemy and differentiates a good kill (super shotgun on a pain elemental) from an overkill (ballista for a cacodemon). This balances the limited ammo pool.

Due to a warning I received for a rule violation in a thread I will not link to, I want to say something. I have never expressed, explicitly or implicitly, that disagreeing with me is a problem. To suggest that I have is either dishonest or a gross misrepresentation of what I have actually said. What I take issue with is spreading misinformation, either intentionally such as through lying or unintentionally such as through uninformed opinions. If people don't like the visuals or music of a game, for example, I may try to persuade them into changing their minds, but that =/= opinion policing. If people express something that leads me to conclude their opinion is uninformed, such as regarding the mechanics of a game, then I may attempt to enlighten them, but that =/= opinion policing, either.

I get where you're coming from and I am inclined to agree. I do, however, think you were a bit harsh to begin with but as time passed it was proving increasingly justified. I can't help but wonder, though, if you frightened (for want of a better word) the person in the beginning. This seems a matter of their ego being bruised, but I wouldn't necessarily say that's your fault or your problem. I gave the person instructions on how to find and post specs and nothing fruitful came of it. In the end, I get the feeling there was more interest in playing the victim than learning anything about computers.

Having said all that, you and I have had a conversation of this nature before. I have nothing against you, but I do think you come off too strongly at times.

I do make an attempt to be helpful, but if someone can't answer the most basic questions there isn't much else to do about it. I just get to the point and wait for results.

Steam rules are strict on how you can respond to people, I get warnings when I make jokes.

I got reported once when I offered to buy someone a game, they said I was rude for assuming they were poor.

This was in a thread where he was complaining he missed the sale event of a $1 game that was on sale for 50 cents, the sale ended, he complained on the forum, I offered to buy him the game and he reported me for being rude? That's the steam forums.

When you can't tell the difference between someone who is legit stupid and someone who is trolling, the best you can do is give flat advice and help the ones capable of being helped and ignore the rest.
