The game is amazing! Yes, I’m an old fan of the series, so I’m totally fine with the lack of modern hand-holding mechanics. In my opinion, this is a game about exploration and progression, both for your character and for you as a player. You start as someone who literally knows NOTHING, and that’s the point. It’s completely normal that at level one you can’t fight properly or pick locks. This is not "The Elder Scrolls" where you can level everything at once. Here you need to choose your path. If something doesn’t work, try something else and come back later.

A quick note about lockpicking. Please don’t simplify this system. It SHOULD be hard for a character who has no idea how to pick locks. Only with skill progression should it become easier, but not trivial. It still needs to feel engaging and a bit risky.

After the demo I was worried the controls would feel clunky. But it seems the developers listened to feedback, and the character feels much more responsive now. It’s actually enjoyable to control.
Yes, sometimes the character climbs over things you didn’t intend to climb, but that’s better than getting stuck on every small rock.

Early combat is great for players who enjoy learning systems step by step. There’s no stamina system like in modern "hardcore" games, but fights still feel challenging. You really feel like a beginner who can barely hold a sword.
At the same time, you have enough basic tools from the start. Dodging and blocking are enough to survive and explore. As you improve, the combat starts to open up.

The music gives me goosebumps. I replayed the original Gothic not long ago, so I didn’t even have time to miss it, but hearing the updated soundtrack is great.
Combat sounds are punchy, environmental audio feels alive, and the music clearly respects the original. No regrets about pre-ordering and getting the soundtrack bonus.

I was worried the visuals would be overcomplicated, but the balance is just right. The world feels alive: insects, different fish in different waters, small details that build atmosphere.

Atmosphere over photorealism, that’s what Gothic is about, and it’s preserved here.

As for performance, I personally have no issues. On a mid-range PC with a small screen, the game runs smoothly without any problems.

From the main menu theme to the end, I had the feeling that I was playing the original Gothic. At first, it seemed like the character was running slowly, but later I got used to it and realized that this generally conveys the smoothness of movement well. I also liked the 4-way strike, like in the original, and the improved archery.
There is only one question left: when will the full game be released?
