P.A.M.E.L.A. First Impressions, Anyone?

One of my more eagerly anticipated indie horror games, P.A.M.E.L.A., released on Steam Early Access last week. I haven't had the chance to try it myself, so I was hoping someone here could share their first impressions of the game with the class? Is it deserving of the "overwhelmingly positive" consensus the Steam Majority has bestowed upon it, or is there enough room for improvement that it might be worth allowing it some extra time to simmer in Early Access?

I also wanted to get your feedback on something, and that's how you'd like us to tackle new Early Access releases. In the past, when we reviewed an Early Access title we gave it a yes/no recommendation rather than a traditional score, which we'd save for after it's "official" release. If that sounds good to you, then we won't change a thing. If it doesn't, feel free to let me know if there's any way that we can make our Early Access coverage more helpful to you.

Because this is all for you, my beloved basket of dreadfuls. You complete me.

Let's say a brand new gaming website were to, say, attempt to create a definitive list of 100 horror games that every fan of the genre should play before they die - what are some games that you would expect to find on such a list?

We did it, 2016 is officially behind us. Surely, 2017 will be better to us, right? I certainly hope so. If it doesn't, then at the very least I hope the imminent launch of Plenty Dreadful will be a safe place for all. And regarding the year that's soon to be, I'd very much like to know which horror game(s) you're most anticipating from the new year. Hey, you. It's me, Adam. I know it's been a while since I was here last, and there's been a reason for that. Change is afoot. I don't know if you can feel it yet, but something wicked(-ly cool) is coming this way, and the timing really couldn't be better. Our world's becoming more and more divided, but I believe we can fix it using the healing power of video games.

Regular readers of the Bloody Disgusting[bloody-disgusting.com] video games content might've noticed my fairly sudden disappearance from the site back in August. There was a reason for my hiatus, and here's why.

In the not-too-distant future I'll be returning as the "Big Cheese" of a brand new video games-centric horror news and culture site that I affectionately refer to as Plenty Dreadful. This is just the latest addition to the Bloody Disgusting family, joined by Cinema Runner[www.cinemarunner.com], launched earlier this year and run by a ridiculously amazing man by the name of Jonathan Barkan.

The goal is to launch the site next month, and for the first few months, Plenty Dreadful will have a lot of what longtime readers of the site have come to expect from Bloody Disgusting's games coverage, including recurring series on horror, art, cosplay, and technology, in addition to the news coverage, reviews, interviews, previews, etc.

Over time, I'd like to transform Plenty Dreadful into more of a site for crowdsourced content with featured posts from you. This won't happen immediately after launch, but soon after the site goes live and we have all the kinks worked out.

I want you to help me mold this website into something that's unique and wholly our own. There may be many websites like it, but this one is ours.

Basically, what I'm saying is I’d very much like for you to be the Patrick Swayze to my Demi Moore and help me shape something beautiful out of this formless chunk of sexually charged clay we've been given.

Okay, so here's how I'm thinking this should work. I'm going to make quizzes, and you're going to answer them in order to prove your level of badassedness in the area of horror game knowledge. Based on the handful of folks I've tested the quiz on, it seems as if I might've made this one too easy, even for a warm-up. I'll let you all be the judge of that.

Developer Night Dive Studio's recent, and surprisingly popular, Kickstarter campaign to revive System Shock[bloody-disgusting.com] inspired this list of upcoming horror games I'm super excited about. Crowdfunding has changed the rules of games development, especially for the horror genre, the growth of which is often hindered by the overblown idea that its appeal is too niche, and is therefore considered too risky to pursue via tr.

That's been true before and gaming's cyclical nature means it'll certainly be true again at some point, but for now, that's just silly. A number of welcome changes have come out of this irritating misconception, as this comprehensive list of successfully crowdfunded horror games proves.

For a few months now I've been breaking up the enormous line-up of horror games we have to look forward between now and 2017 -- or, more accurately, the games we know about -- in handy themed 'Most Anticipated' lists in an effort to make it easier for you to discover promising horror games.

A Guide to Steam's Greenlit Horror Games

I've been slowly sifting through the thousands of titles on Steam Greenlight in an effort to compile a list of horror games that have been approved on the platform, but haven't yet made it to the official Steam store. It's taken a long damn time just to build the list of 40 or so very promising games you can check out below.

It'd be enormously helpful if you would follow, favorite and rate the list so we can turn this into the most comprehensive guide to the best-looking horror games that Steam has greenlit so far.

As I'm sure you'll soon realize, there's quite a lot of games ([i}thousands![/i]) that I haven't had the time to look at yet, so if you know of something that deserves a spot on this WIP list, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is not a list of games that are actively seeking votes on Greenlight. If you'd like one of those as well, I'd be happy to oblige.
