Can I run the game on Windows XP?
No, sorry. Since we upgraded the engine to use DirectX11, Windows XP is no longer supported. It requires Windows Vista or later.

Will the game actually be playable on my minimum spec machine?
Absolutely. We have tested extensively on a variety of hardware and we are very confident in the performance even at the minimum specs.

What engine is used for Black Ops II?
The Black Ops II engine builds upon the Black Ops engine with a number of improvements including performance optimizations, enhanced graphics, and proprietary anti-cheat technology.

What performance optimizations have you introduced for Black Ops II?
Performance has been a top priority for Black Ops II PC from day one and we have achieved significant improvements. We’ve improved the way the engine handles multiple threads. Additionally, we moved the engine from DX9 to DX11. The DX11 API is leaner than DX9 and requires less CPU time to do the same amount of work. It is important to point out that this benefits the entire range of supported GPUs, not just DX11 hardware. We have also added more “quality vs performance” options than ever before so you can customize your experience to either run faster or to satisfy your taste in eye candy.

You mentioned enhanced graphics for the PC version. Can you tell us more about that?
Black Ops II PC features enhanced lighting, shadows, antialiasing, bloom, depth of field, ambient occlusion, and other enhanced effects that are still in the works. And the game can run at higher resolutions and higher framerates on the PC.

Will there be a framerate cap?
No. Unless you want one. We have included an adjustable FPS cap slider in the game options. The minimum setting is OFF (no cap).

To kick off the morning to a wonderful GamesCom week, loads of Black Ops 2 multiplayer info has been released! Tease yourself with new info, footage and a few screenshots.

Official Black Ops 2 coverage doesn't start until tomorrow (Aug. 15th), but a few lucky press outlets were able to get hands on with the game early! Not only do they have their own reviews and previews of the multiplayer, but there is also never before seen gameplay footage and screenshots now available. We've collected loads of confirmed facts about Black Ops 2 MP and also created a playlist for all the associated gameplay videos!

So what's been confirmed?:
- Emblem editor confirmed.
- Create-a-class features a 10 point allocation system.
- The perk Ghost now only makes you invisible to UAVs if you are on the move (campers will light up).
- Select Fire attachment allows you to change the fire rate.
- Combat Training is confirmed to return.
- 55 levels of ranking with 10 prestige levels.
- Wager matches and custom gametypes confirmed.
- 2 New confirmed modes: Multi Team (up to 6 teams with any configuration of 18 players) and HardPoint (like KoH) where you control map points.

Gamescom 2012 - Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Event Coverage [LIVE STREAM] August 15th

Fans around the globe can also share in the exclusive reveal. In collaboration with Xbox, Wednesday’s World Premiere will be streamed live from Gamescom directly to Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network for all Xbox LIVE members throughout Europe and in the United States and Canada.
Hosted by Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson and AceyBongos, the world reveal featuring live gameplay from the show floor will be streamed daily starting on Wednesday 15th Aug from 6 p.m. local time (9 a.m. PST/5 p.m. UK) with exclusive interviews with the developers of the game.
In addition to the stream on Xbox LIVE, the show will also be streamed online on XBOX.COM in Europe, FACEBOOK.COM/CODBLACKOPS as well as TWITCH.TV/TREYARCH. The World Premiere content will be available in its entirety via Xbox LIVE video-on-demand shortly after the live broadcast in participating countries. Additional broadcast outlets will be revealed at a later date.
