This new Store is made for people who browse Steam at 4k res...
Why is everything so ridiculously big? Also, it's more slow and it feels choppy too. Terrible new design.

I'm browsing it with half of my 1440p screen. No issues.
Is your display scale in the Windows settings app set above 100% by any chance?
Looks fine in WQHD. It does look kinda big on my FHD monitor but after getting used to WQHD at 100% scaling, everything looks too big on FHD.
it is for controllers. looks very similar to the ui used on steamdeck. big buttons, easy to select stuff.
It looks like ♥♥♥♥ in 4k, too, trust me. Feels like I bumped my res down to 1024x768.

Not having performance issues. Perhaps something is wrong with your PC? Or you are due for an upgrade if basic browsing is laggy.
It def feels laggier than the browser version now
I use the desktop client on a 55" UHD TV.
They finally implemented an option in the settings to scale text.

agreed, it's trash. Youtube did this before and people hated it to the point they lowered it a bit. but, same thing here except it won't ever change.
2 games or 3 at most on screen at once. this is just big picture but forced to those outside of big picture. it doesn't matter what your native resolution is, the app auto scales.
it wasn't this bad and nobody asked for this. it's almost as if I'm browsing on a damn phone but streaming the visual to a giant monitor.

this is just my problems with visuals but the actual functionality of the store itself is another hell worth it's own discussion due to being dysfunctional and anticonsumer + anti-competitor for how the new store design from before and how it's now adjusted to be worse.

DLC's are games. filters don't work. subgenre is a genre. genre cares about player tags more than the genre. the bigger the company behind the game, the more priority that game and it's 100+ dlc's are forced onto the front page and searches.

it's as if all priority goes to who ever bribed valve more instead of the actual algorithm that considers the consumer's tastes which is in the agreements of using steam.
seriously, if valve wants to track our data and we agreed to it, why the F are they refusing to use it on the store page like it says it does? being sarcastic a little there but still a valid question.
Quite possibly it’s designed for big picture you are correct; with the steam machine incoming I kind of wonder if certain changes make more sense once that comes out.
It doesn't look noticeably better or worse, and yes I browse the store at 4K on a 43". There's still too much screen space going unused. That being said I don't care for the new columns. I don't like that calendar column, or that column for the steam deck. They aren't selling my on anything. They're just slowing me down on my hunt.
