For the uninitiated, Steam now has a section of their store dedicated to music. This is most commonly used for soundtracks of games available on Steam (and you’ll find the Devil May Cry 5 OST there as well!), but it’s also open to any music release… hence Devil May Cry HR/HM Arrange]Devil May Cry HR/HM Arrange. It’s one hell of an album, so we definitely recommend checking it out.

The soundtracks come with MP3 (V0 bitrate), FLAC (16-bit), and AAC (Variable bitrate) music files. Ownership of the base Devil May Cry HD Collection or Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition game is not required to purchase these soundtracks.

Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition is out TODAY on PC. It’ll run you $24.99 for a ton of content and one of the finest action gaming experiences of all time.

In celebration, the game’s director Hideaki Itsuno has offered some more words of insight on Nero and Vergil’s designs, which you'll find below.

Regarding Nero’s new “Prototype” costume:
I was originally planning to have him in the standard Order of the Sword uniform, but the producer felt I should include the costume that meant the most to me personally as the director, so I went with this. It’s one of the early designs that was nixed early on in the original game’s development.

The costume is characterized by the double-button coat, a motif borrowed from old Japanese military uniforms, along with the scarf, which symbolizes his role as the hero. We strove perhaps a bit too hard for uniqueness, and in the end we felt it came off a bit too comic booky, so it wasn’t selected as his final design. But it does look considerably more “heroic” than his current design, wouldn’t you say? It’s pretty cool seeing his scarf flowing in the breeze during cutscenes when you select this costume, so be sure to try it out for yourself.

On Vergil:
Vergil was devised from the beginning as a character who uses a Japanese sword, but determining how he used it was a process of trial-and-error. We were still deliberating over it when I was in America hashing out motion capture details with our action director, Mr. Shimomura, and that’s when I witnessed the Japanese swordplay of one Dan Southworth (the voice and motion actor for Vergil). It was not exactly like that of a true Japanese warrior, but had its own Western flavor perfectly mixed in, and I said, “That’s it!” It showed a respect for authentic Japanese swordsmanship, but balanced with a slightly rough, wild style that perfectly fit Vergil’s profile of a Western man using a Japanese sword.

This image of the character was carried on to his rendition in DmC Devil May Cry, which we made in England, and his movement in DMC4 Special Edition is a definitive amalgam of his past renditions.

Okay, Devil May Cry fans—you’ve been waiting since December for solid info on Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition. Here it is.

We're happy to confirm that DMC4SE is indeed coming to the PC, and set for a release this summer. You can expect a tremendous amount of content and replayability at a great value.

DMC4SE is a heavily enhanced version of the 2008 stylish action classic, featuring:

Three new playable characters, making for a total of five playable characters—the largest playable roster in the series’ history.

Vergil – Dante’s ice-cold twin brother and master of the iaijutsu sword fighting style. As described by the game’s director, Hideaki Itsuno, Vergil will have a fully upgradable move set based on his rendition in Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition, with elements of DmC Devil May Cry’s Vergil added in, making this the definitive version of the character. He will also feature a new “Concentration” mechanic, which makes his attacks get more powerful the more flawlessly he fights. Vergil will be playable on any mission.

Trish – Resident badass since her first appearance in the first Devil May Cry’s opening cutscene, Trish does away with the need for weapon switching, instead utilizing the versatile Sparda sword, her pistols, and her bare hands in a variety of inventive ways. Trish allows players to fight with relatively few buttons, but is still quite a deep character with an awesome move set. Trish will be playable on Dante’s missions.

Lady – Playable for the first time, Lady specializes in long-range, firearm-based combat, making the game feel completely different. Her signature weapon, the Kalina Ann, features a grappling hook which allows her to traverse environments similarly to Nero, among other applications. Lady will be playable on Nero’s missions.

Enhanced visuals – 1080p support and up-res’d textures, while preserving the game’s 60fps framerate.

Bonus costumes and skins.

Numerous minor tweaks to game tempo and balance.
