What a banger compared to DL2, it has some of the best side quests I've ever played in DL franchise, to be clear I'm talking about the side quests not side activities those are different and repetitive.
Kyle Crane's return was fantastic, combat feels brutal and satisfying and the atmosphere captures that classic Dying Light feeling that many fans felt was missing from Dying Light 2.
Night time feels like actual night as it's pitch black, there is hardly you can see without flashlight and it does feel scary and tense. The only area where I still prefer Dying Light 2 is the parkour. It had better flow and felt much smoother and more enjoyable.
The final cutscene with the Baron was incredible and honestly one of the best I've ever seen in gaming.

Solid 8.5/10 for me.

Dying Light is one of my favourite game franchises, and "The Beast" turned out to be almost maximum enjoyable.

But if the devs happen to read reviews, here's a couple of details, that made the playthrough a bit uncomfortable:

1. When playing on PC with mouse and keyboard there are "hidden" control elements. If it's possible, please don't bind some keys to specific actions without the possibility to remap those keys. Like beast mode ("Z+X"), weapon disassembly in player inventory ("C") and others. I guess, lots of gamers like to change keybindings, and you "stole" several most usable elements, which may interfere with the keys, which could be binded differently.

2. While exploring the game world, we can find some notes, treasure maps and different collectibles. Some of those notes remain always visible through survival instinct and are "stuck" to a cetrain place.

It's not so important, 'cause mostly they're connected with hints to open this or that safe or simply add to the game lore. But why not add those notes to the journal together with the other documents, placing them to some special section? It's a bit irritating to see the same "unmovable" note when you revisit this or that area.

Besides you have to memorize what's written there to solve riddles: some of them have to be finished here and now, because they have three steps with a separate note. When you find those notes and a closed safe nearby, they're not adding by any kind of a special mark on a map - in case you want to skip that and return there later. So very often you can simple distract to another activity, while trying to find the connection to the "mysterious" document.

Upon the whole, I guess, all of those things I grumble about are just a small drop in the ocean and they can't change the fact, that the game is great and extremely entertaining! Absolute cinema!

Decent game, but nothing special, I liked DL1 and 2 more.

So why do I not recommend it?

1) The stamina mechanic is terrible. Who enjoys crawling on the ground with a terrified squeal after 3 swings without the ability to fight back?

2) Recovered Lands:
2.1) Scripted chases and other scripted content are more lethal in one life mode than the environment, I´d rather go out at night at low level and risk volatile chases than play those.
2.2) Zombies don`t respawn (mostly), yet volatiles do. What?
2.3) Ever tried the night mission at the beginning and forgot to buy parts for the flashlight? GG.

And the last part made me realize that the entire game has fundamental design flaws, as it is full of the mentioned scripted sequences that take away player agency. DL1 and even 2 had some parts like that as well, but nowhere near as annoying and repetetive. Take your flavor of volatile chase with a viral chase mixed in. Pick the chase area: cave or the same repetitive tunnel system. Brilliant. I am blown away.

And I am not even at the story yet: Aiden waking up and recognizing Kyle Crane right away. Everyone forgiving and forgetting getting double crossed within seconds. GRE showing up right after the fight for no logical reason. And that`s just the tip of the iceberg.

All in all, it`s the weakest entry to the series, but still a decent game. I just don`t recommend it at full price. Get it on discount and respect your own time by ignoring the permadeath mode in restored lands.

I just finished the game, and I am on the credits scene. This game is a huge step up from the previous one. I enjoyed every moment of gameplay from start to finish; the story was amazing, the combat and parkour were exceptional, and the ending was everything I could have wanted from it. The dying light series has always been a favorite of mine, and this one certainly did not disappoint. I will not divulge into any of the story or plot twists because I don't want to spoil anyone, but some things were genuinely shocking, especially the ending.

If anyone asked me to choose a game that I could only play for the next 10 years, I would pick this one. This is a 10/10 game, and it is completely worth the money. Buy it if you can.

The first hour was really fun, but in the middle of the game, I started feeling really depressed

the game is super mid the story is super mid most missions are just running back and forth from one side of the map to the other co-op is super buggy crashes from time to time for no reason floating objects unfinished textures. map does not promote explorations and there is nothing "special" to find. and the grappling hook works about half the time. all in all the game is not worth full price i would suggest only buying on a deep discount.
