Fix SteamVR on Linux
You guys still haven't fixed the problem with Elden Ring with the 3.8 beta/main branch builds. I assume the problem is being caused by the new MESA driver.

Elden Ring now randomly crashes when in game, when trying to call up the in-game "System" menu (that leads to quit game). This doesn't happen on the main menu before actually loading a save.

This does NOT happen at all when using the 3.7.X branch at all (several proton versions were tested).

This also doesn't happen (3.8 builds) when using Proton version 7.0.6 (although performance is slightly lower with this version). It happens with any higher version proton, as well as 11/experimental. Performance is actually pretty bad with Proton 11 with this (didn't test 3.7.X with 11 though).

I reported this as soon as 3.8 went live but it's been ignored.

I haven’t tested this myself to verify, but do you have an active case for this on github? As it seems they are much more active there.
I’ve noticed that on SteamOS 3.7.22 (Steam Deck OLED), I get better performance (higher max FPS, higher average FPS, higher min FPS) than I do on SteamOS 3.8.4 (Beta). Regardless of whether I use Proton 10 or 11 (Beta).
All my favorite games — such as Civ: Beyond Earth, Humankind, Civ V, Old World, and Age of Wonders: Planetfall — perform much better on 3.7.22 than on 3.8.4... and I’m not just talking about a difference of 3 to 5 FPS.
The updated graphics drivers included in SteamOS 3.8.4 are supposed to deliver better performance than those in 3.7.22. Can anyone explain this to me?

I noticed the bad performance with 3.8.2/4 too. Steam OS 3.7.24 is much better.
Here we go again. Official SteamOS for Legion Go 2 is just around the corner 🥹
